Bob Barth
FOUNDER & CHAIRMAN
Mr. Barth has over 40 years of experience in commercial real estate investment and management. He serves on the Crosswind Mortgage REIT’s investment committee and is a member of the REIT’s Board of Directors. Over the past 10 years, he has funded over 300 private real estate loans, representing in excess of $750 million in dollar volume.
He began his career in 1973 by acquiring commercial and industrial properties and joined Black Equities Group in 1985, the year that it was founded by Stanley Black. Over the next 30 years, Black Equities Group acquired interests in over 200 commercial and industrial properties located in California and the Western US. Mr. Barth served as the CEO for Black Equities Group.
In 2007, Mr. Barth co-founded California Republic Bank and served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors until the sale of the bank to Mechanics Bank. Mr. Barth serves on the advisory boards of several private equity funds in which he has invested and on the board of directors of a number of other privately held companies.
Mr. Barth graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in economics and business administration from the University of California, Berkeley and earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Jan B. Brzeski is Managing Director & Chief Investment Officer of Crosswind Financial and Crosswind Mortgage REIT. He has originated more than 1,700 real estate investments since 2010. Prior to Crosswind, he was vice president of acquisitions at Standard Management Company. While there, his responsibilities included identifying properties to acquire, underwriting and negotiating to purchase income property and land. Prior to Standard Management, Mr. Brzeski was a successful entrepreneur, co-founding and serving as CEO of STV Communications, a media services business that he sold in 2000.
Previously, Mr. Brzeski worked at Goldman Sachs as an investment banking analyst, where he contributed to initial public offerings, secondary stock and bond offerings, as well as mergers and acquisitions of leading technology companies. Mr. Brzeski holds a B.A. in physics from Dartmouth College and an M.A. in economics (PPE) from Oxford University. He is a California licensed real estate broker.
Mr. Hebner is Managing Director of Crosswind Financial and a part of the investment committee for Crosswind Venture Fund. He is also the founder & chief investment officer of Community Rebuild Partners, a residential real estate investment and asset management firm. Mr. Hebner’s principal experience is both as a residential developer having purchased, renovated and resold more than 225 properties since 2010 and more recently as a lender originating over $800 million in loans.
From 2008 through 2011, Mr. Hebner served as the president of NuView Financial Services, a provider of outsourced loss mitigation services for the residential mortgage industry, and served as the COO of NuView’s parent company, Sorrento Capital, a private asset management firm focused on the financial services industry. From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Hebner served as CEO of Relocation.com and previously was the senior vice president of Consumer Media Services at Move, Inc. (NASDAQ: MOVE). Mr. Hebner holds a B.S. in accounting from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from Harvard University. He is a licensed California mortgage loan originator and real estate broker.
